  1. Oh-hoo… this one’s good! It’s such a fun time reading a humble chad misunderstand his way to falling all those giga-beasts. The supporting princess character is fun too, a very precious little muffin. All the other characters are really boring though… It’s about 3/5 in terms of rating, a guilty pleasure.

  2. Oh look, it’s another one of those ‘wait I’m actually the strongest?’ stories. There are some that are done right and they’re actually entertaining, hence why I thought I’d take the plunge on this one.

Let me let you know right here: this is not one of them.

It’s not even funny, it’s actually infuriating. The sheer amount of stupidity required for this story to make it to the end of the volume the way it does – that spans over TEN YEARS with timeskips for training – isn’t just accidental, it’s impossible. It’s so stupid it beggars belief; figuratively bends SoD over a barrel and actively requires you to think that the author has never read anything other than their own work ever. Coincidences in narratives can be interesting in some cases, but since the MC is trained in the same kingdom he comes back to, and in fact trains in multiple different factions over the same year in the beginning, the intentional vagueness of their ‘rejections’ that spawn his mindset could only happen by author fiat. It’s like they just expect nothing to be said at all over the months of his training and only practice to have happened, because the princess character introduced later actually knows things SAID by the same trainers yet no, nothing can be explained to the MC because that would nullify the point of the title.

I made it through volume 1 and there’s no way I’m coming back to this. In fact, I’m posting this because I wish I hadn’t read it and it sours the taste of all others in its field. It’s not just a classic case of the MC being dense, it’s literally *every character* misunderstanding *every* factor *every* time and not a single one even trying to expand on their misinterpretations. The characters don’t feel real. They all feel fake because they all respond the same, with the same dumb actions and dumb rationalizations…because if they didn’t the whole premise would fall flat on its face.

It’s not entertaining, it’s not charming, it’s just frustrating.
