Missing links?

Lately there has been several reports regarding missing links in pages. The links are actually there, if you can’t see it, then you have a problem with your adblocker. It removed the links from the page. You will have to adjust the settings by yourself to fix it.

As far as I’ve noticed, only the links going to raboninco (dot) com are being removed from pages.

PS: It would seem that Easylist filters are the culprit for the new adblocking rule:
##[href^="http://raboninco.com/"]
to remedy this, add this to your filters (My Filters in Ublock Origin):
#@#[href^="http://raboninco.com/"]

You can also try pressing the EYE icon on Ublock Origin to turn off cosmetic filtering for the site, it should work too (if my understanding is correct).

  1. from “A Most Unlikely Hero”….. sorry, why no download list? already disable my adguard [only using this one], but still no list…. btw i already post 2 times on that series page, but looks like my comment dissappear……

  2. Jowy, just a heads up that firefox has flagged this site for unwanted software, i.e. “The site ahead may contain harmful programs.” When you try to navigate to it, you get that red firefox warning page with that quote and options to “leave” or “view more info.” Thought you should know since this site has been nothing short of awesome!

  3. Random question: what is the idea of titling new volume releases with XXX Vol XX Updated?
For a long time I thought there was a release before and it got updated with a new file like e.g. a normal book replaced with a premium version. So if e.g. Konosuba Vol 12 is released, Konosuba is updated, but the title for the new post – would it not make more sense Konosuba Vol. 12 release? Just wondering for a while.

    1. Well it depends doesn’t it? If I put vol. 10 release, we get people asking “we already have vol 16 on some sites, why do….” or “vol 10 was actually released last month…” or “you’re late”. But I get what you mean, I’ll think about it, maybe one day I’ll change it to just XXX Vol. XX.

On another note, some of the releases actually got stealth fixed/updated. Some got fixed from ebook reader issues, whilst others got replaced with versions that have higher quality images. This is actually another problem, I do not know how to go about SHOWING the latest version of each volume on the series page. If i put filesize beside each download link, it is confusing since Epub filesize and .zip filesize is slightly different, and then showing how many MB the file is may give a good idea but doesn’t really show that it has been fixed for compatibility with ebook readers (because sometimes the fixes just change the filesize by a few bytes). So yea, it seems like a lot of work so I haven’t done that.

      1. Just the title seems fine, since it is kinda seen with the “new post” that it is a new release on That Novel Corner. I wouldn’t expect anyone thinking you can get instant releases here, despite you already invest lots in so many different series. But I get what you mean, since it often looks like you instantly have all the books to offer more than often enough on their official release days.

About the updates: would it not work using new posts with “XXX Vol XX Updated” and then eventually just replace the old link on the series’ main page with a note? Like…

Volume XX or (M) (New Version – 10/31/2020)

Just my thoughts in addition, seeing you already made so many good thoughts of maintaining the site properly.

        1. “Volume XX or (M) (New Version – 10/31/2020)” I already use this for some of the volumes where I’ve replaced the low quality versions with HQ versions of the books. But I saw that it was really cluttering up the page if I wrote that additional note for every volume. So I will not implement that yet, not until I have a better solution. I’ll try that title solution though.

          1. Actually that sounds solid already, with working with the titles only if you want to avoid the cluttering in the description. With new book just keeping it XXX Vol. XX. But when one book actually get one of those “stealth” updates, you can make it XXX Vol. XX Updated. The new post of XXX Vol. XX. Updated can explain that you put a newer version up while on the main page you just replace the old link and put at the end of description something like

[taken Classroom of Elite as example]
            Volume 07 or (Mirror)

            Updated November 2, 2020
            Volume 03 or (Mirror)
            […]

That way you can implement updates on older stuff properly, good visible for your followers, without making the main pages unreadable.

  4. i use the incorpored ADblocker on opera browser and i just put this page (that novel corner) on the whitelist and it was solved

  5. Just want to say, be careful. In this 2020, many “unofficial” site has go down. Be prepare before this site go down too. My favorite WN site already became a victim.

  6. I’m surprised someone actually use AdBlock when open this site.
isn’t it common sense to whitelist you fav website to show your appreciation?

    1. I have the site on white list, but ublock keeps blocking the adds. Maybe i configured it wrongly? Though i just typed the site link on the whitelist and saved.

  7. Most likely the main cause is Adblock Plus.
A few days ago, when i was browsing the links in animechiby — they post their links in a paste page — i noticed that links were gone. After searching for the problem, i found out that rabonico . com links were filtered by ABP eventhough i don’t remember blocking it in the first place.

For those having the same issue, try this.
open the page where the missing links are > right click the ABP icon > Open blockable items > toggle the rabonico (red)

    1. thanks for posting a solution. I don’t use ABP so I have not encountered this issue. Hopefully this works for everyone.
