One thousand Japanese high school students are suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar world rife with dangerous monsters. Their survival becomes dependent on those who awaken to unexplainable powers. Majima Takahiro, a normal second-year student, does not get any such power. Instead, he joins the majority of students building the homestead. But when a group of empowered students revolt, Takahiro is left wandering the forest on the verge of death. Having lost all faith in humanity, he finds salvation from an unlikely source: monsters!

  1. ok, im very confused on how the taming system works. it’s like pokemon that hadnt been discovered from gen1-8. cuz if the monsters he acquires are not random then he shouldve been contacted ‘earlier’. if it does randomized, welp he got one big plot armor.

    1. Yeah, it’s all plot armor/Deus ex machina. Everything is arbitrary with little to no buildup. MC has the answer/solution to the problem when he needs it.

  3. Oh hey, I remember reading this way back when by Re:Translations. Interesting they decided to change the name of the series though

      1. I mean the English name. The name used by fan translation (literal translation) had been “Master of Monsters”. I assume J-NC opted to change it to remove the “master” connotation.

    1. Monster Tamer is an official english subtitle for the series in Japan. It really misses the point of the series, but oh, well.
